Fall Equinox & New Moon
The Fall Equinox is the great equalizer, where day and night stand as mirrors of one another.
It carries the archetype of The Harvester: gathering the wisdom of what we’ve sown, recognizing the fruit of our labor, and also acknowledging what did not take root. This is not about judgment, it’s about gratitude for the lessons and release of what no longer serves the journey forward.
Today the Fall Equinox and the New Moon meet us at the threshold of change, bringing us into a sacred season of both balance and beginnings. Yesterday evening as I stood outside, I witnessed the shift and the presence of the element of air blowing open the door to the fall and closing the door on the end of the summer season. In a matter of minutes it went from 29 degrees Celsius to 20. The wind began to blow and the air filled with a fall chill and I in the midst of my ceremonial process of releasing to the earth felt myself make peace with what is to be-change.
It was now time…

The New Moon arrives as the archetype of The Dreamer and The Seed Planter. It reminds us that emptiness is fertile, that the unseen is already in motion. The darkened sky is not a void, it is the womb space, the soil waiting for the intention you dare to plant.
Together, these energies whisper:
The Harvester asks, “What will you lay down, to lighten your load for the season ahead?”
The Seed Planter asks, “What truth of your soul are you ready to root into the earth of your becoming?”
This is also the descent season, where we follow the archetype of The Wise One—the one who turns inward, who honors the darkness not as something to fear, but as a place of deep renewal. Just as the trees release their leaves, we are invited to release the stories, identities, and old energies that keep us bound to what is no longer alive.
The invitation of this day is to walk with reverence into your own balance. To honor that endings are not failures, and beginnings do not need to be rushed. To see that the descent into shadow is the very path that brings us into the radiance of new growth when the time is right.
Take a sacred pause today. Light a candle, breathe deeply, and whisper to your own heart: “I honor the harvest. I welcome the dark as sacred. I plant with faith in what I am becoming.”
Here is a little affirmation you may like to use,
“I am in harmony with the cycles of life. I release with gratitude, I plant with intention, and I trust the wisdom of my becoming.”
