The Wisdom of the Midpoint
February 1st is nature’s midpoint moment. The way to the ending and a new beginning (rebirth). Here we begin the journey through the midpoint of the transition from the winter’s chill towards the promise of spring. Today, I would like to share another From the Heart of Corrie blogs with you. (Warning… it’s a long one!)
Today no one is sitting alone. We are in the midpoint of something, even if it’s simply the changing of the seasons. I am sitting now in another transition of change in my life as well. News that I was not ready for, but yet it has arrived. News I knew would be coming as I witnessed the many changes around me in the fall.
I watched big trees being cut down to make space for new houses in our tranquil old neighbourhood. I had my family move away, and my sweet dog return home. Change was happening and I knew in my heart that my time in this home that became the place that nurtured my mind, body, and soul back to life and the place I married my soulmate was coming to an end. My healing and nurturing has prepared me for the midpoint of an emotional ending and the uncertainty of the new beginning. As I stand in the middle with no idea what the ending and new beginning will look like I am simply here and there is no choice but to commit to walking my way to saying good bye to a chapter that’s coming to an end.
Ironically it’s storming outside, wind is blowing and the sun is still shining through. I know in the end everything will be as it’s meant to be.
February 1st: The Midpoint Between Winter and Spring
Has anyone else noticed that it’s now still light outside at dinner (supper) time? Did you know that today, February 1st, marks the midpoint between winter and spring for those in the Northern Hemisphere?
It is a fascinating time of year when we start to see subtle signs of change in the world around us. I can feel the winter’s chill but I know we are that much closer to warmer days. The seasons teach us that everything is temporary. Life is forever moving and changing but it’s consistency is the familiarity’s that return with the seasons. There is also a fragility that life reminds us of, that there is no guarantees. Mother Nature nurtures and holds us in the reminder that spring and then summer appear once again.
The certainty is in knowing the ice will melt away, and once again we can look forward to longer days, budding flowers, and the promise of warmer weather.
This is an opportunity to reflect on nature's cycles, to prepare ourselves for the vibrant energy that spring brings. A great reminder that the familiar appearances of the season returns as a reminder to hold onto hope with a little curiosity and wonder of what shall life look like in the uncertainty of what will return, and possibly be forever changed, as the cold air becomes warmer and the ice and snow melt away. The moments of the midpoints of change, holding onto faith as there is no guarantee to the fragility of what time may bring forth.
All too often we spend so much time focusing on beginnings and endings, that we don’t embrace the middle. We tend to focus on getting ahead and forget to embrace the wisdom of the experience that exists in the middle of those experiences of life.
Today is that day!
Today is symbolically the day we transition and exist in the midpoint journey. It’s not simply one day. A middle is the way towards something new before the new has presented itself in full bloom. It may, or may not be, your most beautiful day and you may be feeling the world, but the middle is not permanent. It’s a space and place where we exist more often than not.
So often that this is the times in life where spirit greets us, encourages us, and inspires us to let love and light in. This is the day we step into the midpoint of the seasons, today has an element of magic.
Today we step into a journey with the middle. The stirring of the spirit of the ancestors, and the spirit’s reflection of resilience and perseverance, inviting us to embrace the movement that will bring today to an end yet awaken the power within to receive the wisdom provided for the way into a new season of life.
Whether you're enjoying a cozy day indoors or taking a brisk walk outside, take a moment to appreciate this unique transition and move away from the distractions.
Let's embrace the magic within moving us towards the fresh beginnings that February brings and look forward to the blooming days ahead! Share with us in the comment below how you're celebrating this special time of year!
Much love,
Corrie
