Who are you?

When you shift from ‘who you are’ to ‘what you are’, you stop being defined by your story.
You begin to live as the story itself, unfolding, alive, free.
What are you? This is the question that’s in the energy as we are in a time of great transformation.
What helped me in understanding myself and releasing the desire to be understood and accepted by everyone else, not in a F*** U way, but in the way that gives yourself permission to stop performing, was in reframing my questions by becoming more curious.
This energy is inviting in curiosity.
A question I ask my students in More Than Existing all the time is, “What are you?” Not who you are, but what you are? Most people pause when I ask that. We’re used to describing ourselves through titles, identities, and roles of mother, friend, entrepreneur, healer, teacher, but those are ‘who we are’ in the world, not ‘what we are’ at the core.
So I ask again - asking with a smile in my heart that you may have seen something that debunks an old story, “What are you? Where did you get all the things you believe about yourself or others? How many of those ideas are actually yours?”
Let this one sink in
If you don’t fully know yourself, how is it that someone else could claim to know you so well? Let that question settle. Feel what rises in your body when you hear it. Because when something doesn’t sit right in your gut, you don’t have to just accept it as truth or fact. You are allowed to question it. You should be curious.
That curiosity is what moves you beyond unconscious and automatic responses, the “This is just who I am” stories that keep you repeating patterns. When you ask, “What am I?” you step out of the program and into awareness. You begin to recognize yourself not as a collection of labels or learned behaviors, but as a living, evolving presence. Consciousness choosing experience.
Remember how lovable and annoying, all at the same time, it is when children repeatedly ask why, how or what questions? In their innocence and learning phases they can clearly see when something doesn’t make sense. Well, show yourself grace because this is the power of unlearning to rediscover. “Because I said so” is not a valid response. Because “that’s just the way we are” is an escape response. Become accustomed to questioning.
It’s a beautiful thing to prove yourself worthy to be more than the old belief. So today, ask yourself again, “What are you?" Where did you come from, not your birthplace, but the essence of you?”
What if you stopped defining yourself by your history and started living from your awareness? Because when you shift from ‘who you are’ to ‘what you are’, you stop being defined by your story. You begin to live as the story itself, unfolding, alive, free.
More Than Existing is about remembering that you are more than a name, more than your pain, and more than the roles you’ve played. You are awareness in motion and awareness is always becoming. Ask yourself, “what belief about myself feels automatic, and who gave it to me?” And remember they are not all negative and everyone else is not always the ones who made you think the way you do, nor are they the reason you choose as you do. Be honest enough with yourself to ask, “What does my gut tell me about that belief? If I wasn’t who I’ve always believed I was, what might I be becoming?”
