The Not So Magical Spirit Guide

Meeting a spirit guide is a sacred and magical experience most fantasize of as if a magical being will appear, like the hot man walking into the scene of the romance novels, and I am not going to lie I have had some of those experiences and am aware of the power of our imagination.

I have had a few beautiful experiences over the years with spirit guides that included an owl, and a wolf which has become so present in my material world, also an elephant.

As I connected to meet a spirit guide once again, I was thinking I would see the return of these beauties, but no, this time I have been blessed with the donkey!

I get a donkey, not just any donkey, but one that was smiling at me teeth and all! I am like, “He is laughing at me as many people do! Is this a cruel joke that I am having to be remembered as the ass, the stubborn old mule?” I laughed in the moment, but I found a great sadness building up.

Then I heard the voice of this spirit animal reminding me that others had created his story just as they have done and will do to you. But I am here and will stay with you until you can see the truth within me and you. Remember when all else fails in their worlds who do they call to carry them through? The one that represents the aspects and essence of a work mule, the donkey. The dependable and reliable one who is not afraid and just does what it needs to do. Yup, I see one in me!

This journey has now been a few years and my donkey has carried me through some difficult days and times. We have had so much, and I even had to ask at one point why two of my spirit animals were those that represented the two political parties of the USA? They laughed and said, “Do they not always use us to do their dirty work and to play one against the other?”

Here is the kicker, the donkey and his friend the elephant explained, “You can see clearly through it all so you are more like the White House that holds and knows the secrets that most don’t, secrets that will never come out because it’s just not worth the effort and the world still has blinders on and deaf ears, and they call us stubborn!”

With a chuckle we have had many a conversation, but most have been the donkey nagging at me, “Can you see yet? You are like me and what is that I always ask, “Are you done yet?”  You carry the load, and your determination has you never quitting, but you have something to prove and I gave that up long ago.” They talk like they are leaders when I am on the trail or guarding their fields but they could not do it without me so who is the leader?

The donkey humbly reminded me he carried the mother to the birth, and the son to his death, and both beginnings and endings were to always be in my journey. Some would be blessings and others challenges.

The presence of a donkey as my spirit guide was a reminder of the human capability, and symbolic of the mockery and underestimating of self that hurts.  When you look deeper at the donkey and know your truth you will understand that the donkey was truly a magical horse that could fly.

I have now stopped hearing him talk and I have stopped doing things just because I can, and am capable of doing, and started to do the things in life that bring me joy and rises me up so I can fly. So never reject that it may seem ridiculous or that you are getting a gift you don’t want, it’s all part of the divine plan and may have a stronger ‘why’ than you would have ever believed!

You may have been here, and thought, “Is this my reward to not get a mystical magical spirit guide?” They are not trophies or rewards but sent to guide you to see beyond the creation of a life of being underestimated. The frustration had you starting to believe the stories that have now been programmed in your head.

As my donkey friend spoke to me, he said, “You are only seeing me as the donkey because you are yet to see your truth. Your sorry’s and apologies are greater than your worth and this is why you like me are a mockery, a scape goat, and underestimated, you are yet to see that the world has tried to clip your wings, or you are the one underestimating you!

Wings are magic, so when you see the magic and the strength, you will see the magic in you, and you too will shed it all and fly above and not be so busy trying to prove you can do it all.
